Node.js and NestJS development

Node.js and NestJS development for the APIs behind your platform.

Every web and mobile platform SpikeSecure builds runs on a backend that has to be correct, fast and integrable. NestJS on Node.js is our default: typed modules, clear structure, real-time support and a large ecosystem of integrations. This page explains what we build with it, when we choose Laravel or Python instead, and what a backend costs.

Direct answer

What we build with Node.js and NestJS, and why.

Node.js runs JavaScript and TypeScript on the server; NestJS is a framework on top of it that organises code into typed, testable modules. SpikeSecure uses NestJS with PostgreSQL for the APIs behind web applications, mobile apps, marketplaces and on-demand platforms, including our Local Friends backend on NestJS and PostgreSQL on AWS Mumbai. Backends at SpikeSecure start at ₹3 lakh as part of a platform build and are always delivered with documentation, tests on critical flows and your own cloud account.

We choose NestJS when the front end is JavaScript-based, when real-time features (tracking, chat, notifications) matter, or when the client's team knows JavaScript. We choose Laravel for PHP teams and Python where ERPNext or data work is involved. The decision is written into the quote.

What we build with it

Backend work we take on.

01

REST and GraphQL APIs

Typed, versioned APIs serving web and mobile clients, with OpenAPI documentation and role-based authorisation.

02

Real-time features

Live order tracking, chat, presence and notifications over WebSockets, with Redis for scale.

03

Payments and payouts

Razorpay, Stripe and PayU checkout, webhooks, reconciliation and RazorpayX payouts with TDS for partners and vendors.

04

Integrations and sync

Two-way sync with Tally, ERPNext, Odoo and Zoho, WhatsApp Business API messaging, logistics and maps APIs.

05

Background jobs and queues

Dispatch engines, reminders, report generation and imports as reliable queued jobs with retries and monitoring.

06

Multi-tenant SaaS backends

Tenant isolation, subscriptions, usage metering and admin APIs for products sold to many customers.

How we build backends

Practices behind reliable APIs.

  • TypeScript and NestJS modules. Clear boundaries between auth, orders, payments and integrations, so changes stay local and testable.
  • PostgreSQL first. Relational data with migrations, constraints and indexes; Redis for caching and queues; Elasticsearch only when search demands it.
  • Idempotent payments and webhooks. Every payment and payout flow is designed to survive retries and duplicate callbacks, with reconciliation reports.
  • Observability. Structured logs, error tracking and uptime monitoring from day one, with alerts to your team and ours.
  • Security. OWASP baseline, rate limiting, secrets management, encrypted backups, audit logs and DPDP Act 2023 alignment for personal data.
  • Your infrastructure. Docker images deployed through GitHub Actions to AWS or DigitalOcean accounts in your name; nothing lives on ours.

How we work

How a backend project runs, step by step.

The same six steps run on every project we take in Coimbatore, whether it is a five-page website or a multi-vendor platform.

01

Discovery — week 1

We listen, audit what exists and write down what success looks like in numbers, then send a fixed-scope written quote, usually within 48 hours.

02

Design — weeks 2–3

Wireframes, design system and a clickable prototype. You see every screen before a line of code is written.

03

Build — week 3 onwards

Weekly demo on a staging URL and GitHub access from day one, so you are never wondering where the project is.

04

Test — final 1–2 weeks

Functional, performance, accessibility and security testing against a pre-launch checklist signed off in writing.

05

Launch — launch week

DNS, monitoring, analytics and backups configured; we watch the first 72 hours with you.

06

Support — ongoing

30-day warranty on every build, then optional SLA-backed maintenance with a monthly health report.

FAQ

Questions about Node.js development.

NestJS or plain Express?

NestJS. It adds structure, dependency injection and typing that keep a growing codebase maintainable; Express alone works for tiny services but becomes hard to manage as features are added.

Node.js or Laravel or Python for my backend?

Node.js with NestJS for JavaScript teams and real-time features; Laravel for PHP teams; Python for ERPNext customisation and data or AI work. We choose by who maintains the system and what it must do, and write the reasoning into the quote.

How much does backend development cost?

APIs for portals and apps cost ₹3–8 lakh at SpikeSecure; platform backends with real-time features, payments and integrations ₹8–20 lakh, normally quoted as part of the full platform.

Can you scale the backend as we grow?

Yes. Stateless services, managed PostgreSQL, Redis and queues let us scale horizontally; we load-test before launch and set up monitoring so growth is planned rather than discovered.

Do you document the API?

Yes. OpenAPI documentation, environment setup, runbooks and a handover walkthrough are part of every backend build.

Can you provide dedicated Node.js developers?

Yes. Dedicated NestJS and Node.js developers and teams for Indian and international clients; see the hire developers in India page.
