Summary

The project in brief.

Krishna Textiles is a textile and jewellery retailer based in Coimbatore. The business needed an online store that could sell both categories to customers across India, take the payment methods Indian buyers actually use, issue GST-compliant invoices and keep stock consistent between the physical shop and the website. SpikeSecure built a custom storefront to do exactly that. The founder reports that page load dropped from 6.4 seconds to under 2 seconds and that revenue from organic search doubled within 90 days of launch.

The problem

What the client needed to change.

The previous storefront loaded in about 6.4 seconds on mobile, which is where most textile and jewellery buyers browse. Slow pages meant abandoned carts, weak search rankings and a catalogue that was hard to keep accurate as pieces sold in the shop.

The objectives agreed at discovery were: a store that loads in under 2 seconds on a mid-range Android phone, one stock position shared by the shop and the website, Indian payment methods including UPI and cash on delivery, GST-compliant invoices generated automatically, and a catalogue structure that could rank in Google for the products the business sells.

What we built

Scope and modules delivered.

01

Custom storefront

A fast, mobile-first storefront with category and collection pages for textiles and jewellery, product variants, search and filters, wishlists and a checkout designed for Indian buyers.

02

Payments

Razorpay integration with cards, net banking and UPI, plus cash on delivery with order verification, so no buyer is turned away by payment method.

03

GST invoicing

Automatic GST-compliant invoices with HSN codes on every order, ready for the accountant without manual re-entry.

04

Inventory sync

Stock levels shared between the shop's inventory and the website so items sold offline disappear online, and vice versa.

05

Order management

Admin console for orders, fulfilment status, returns and customer communication, usable by shop staff without training.

06

SEO foundation

Structured product data, clean URLs, sitemaps, canonical tags and a performance budget so the catalogue could rank and stay fast.

UX and UI approach

Designed for the people who use it every day.

Textile and jewellery purchases are visual and detail-driven. The interface prioritises large, fast-loading product imagery, clear variant selection (size, colour, weight and purity where relevant) and a short checkout that keeps UPI and cash on delivery one tap away. The admin side was designed for shop staff: order status, stock updates and invoice downloads in plain screens rather than a generic e-commerce back office.

Architecture and integrations

How it is put together.

The store is a custom build on our standard e-commerce stack rather than a hosted platform, which is what allowed the inventory integration and the performance target. Key pieces:

  • Storefront: server-rendered pages with image optimisation, caching and a CDN to hit the sub-2-second target on mobile.
  • Payments: Razorpay checkout with UPI, cards and net banking; cash on delivery handled as a first-class order type with verification.
  • Invoicing: GST invoice generation on order confirmation with HSN codes and sequential numbering.
  • Inventory: two-way stock sync with the shop's inventory so both channels sell from one position.
  • Ownership: code, hosting, domain and payment accounts in the client's name.

FAQ

Questions about this project.

Why a custom store instead of Shopify or WooCommerce?

The inventory sync with the shop, the GST invoicing rules and the strict performance target were easier to guarantee on a custom build. For many retailers Shopify or WooCommerce is the right answer; we compare the options honestly in our Shopify vs custom guide and on the discovery call.

How was the load time reduced?

Server-rendered pages, optimised and correctly sized images, caching and a CDN, and a strict budget on third-party scripts. The client reports load time under 2 seconds, down from about 6.4 seconds.

Does the store handle cash on delivery?

Yes. Cash on delivery is a first-class order type with verification, alongside Razorpay for UPI, cards and net banking.

Can you build a similar store for a textile or jewellery business?

Yes. Textile and jewellery stores at SpikeSecure typically cost ₹1.5–8 lakh and take 6–10 weeks; see the textile and jewellery industry pages for what is included.
